Craftsman style homes feature handcrafted details, natural materials, and simple construction. It is recommended that window coverings likewise use natural materials and complement the Craftsman style’s focus – such as wood shutters, wood blinds, and woven fiber shades. Another option is Roman shades in earth-toned fabrics, or simple linen curtains. Chose colors and textures that work well the home’s warm, earthy palette.

Mid-Century Modern homes are a style from approximately 1940s-1960s, characterized by open-concept floor plans, large windows, and minimal ornamentation. Because Mid-Century Modern features wood, glass, steel, and stone, it is recommended that roller shades and/or shutters be utilized for window coverings.

Victorian style homes are large and imposing, typically 2 or 3 stories. Windows in Victorian style homes may feature stained glass and wooden sashes. For this style it is recommended to use layered draperies and/or Roman shades. A layered approach provides privacy, light control, and enhances the opulent aesthetic.

Ranch style homes are single-story with a long, low profile. This popular home style features an open floor plan, low-pitched rooflines, and large windows that are best suited for shutters and/or honeycomb shade window coverings.

Cape Cod style features a simple, rectangular shaped home, traditionally one-and-a-half stories tall. Some latest versions may feature dormers. To complement the simple style of Cape Cod home it is recommended to use shutters, woven wood shades, or linen curtains to offer a classic, casual, and coastal look to window coverings.

Contemporary style homes feature modern architecture, clean lines, open floor plans, and large windows. To take advantage of the large windows it is recommended to use sleek roller shades, banded shades, and/or solar shades that enhance your views and provide energy efficiency benefits. Motorization enhances the contemporary style of the home.

Cottage style homes are often smaller with rustic and traditional details. To complement the natural elements of the cottage style we recommend classic shutters, natural fabric shades, or light-filtering curtains for window coverings.

Dutch Colonial style homes are typically symmetrical and may feature a Dutch door. The windows are often paired symmetrically with decorative outside shutters. Window coverings best suited for Dutch Colonial homes are shutters, layered draperies, and/or Roman shades.

Tudor style homes are characterized by steep pitched roofs, half-timbering with stucco or brick, and often feature tall, narrow windows grouped together. For the old-world charm it is recommended that Roman shades, draperies, wood or faux wood shutters be utilized.
